Previous Activities
Promoting the Establishment of Taiwan’s Thirty-Three Avalokiteshvara Pilgrimage
The concept of the Thirty-Three Avalokiteshvara Pilgrimage originates from Japan, which has three major Avalokiteshvara pilgrimage routes: the Saigoku Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage, the Bando Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage, and the Chichibu Thirty-Four Kannon Pilgrimage, collectively known as the historic “Hundred Kannon Pilgrimage.” These pilgrimage routes have long attracted countless devotees and visitors, not only as an important part of religious activities but also as a symbol of cultural heritage. By visiting these sacred sites, devotees can attain spiritual peace and blessings while deepening their understanding and experience of Avalokiteshvara’s compassionate spirit.
Encouraged by the Hundred Kannon Pilgrimage in Japan, and with the support of various interested parties, we successfully established Taiwan’s Thirty-Three Avalokiteshvara Pilgrimage by integrating thirty-three temples in 2023.
