The event brought together experts, educators, and religious leaders from East Asia and beyond, aiming to promote moral education and cultural exchange centered on the spirit of filial piety.
Afterwards, keynote lectures were presented by specialists from various fields.
Dr. Takehito Yoshitake, Vice President of Daiichi University of Pharmacy, spoke on “Filial Piety and Medicine”, discussing the relationship between family bonds and medical ethics.
Mr. Jin In-Soo, President of the Korea Hyanggyo Principals Association and Jeju Hyanggyo, lectured on “Filial Piety and the Family”, emphasizing the re-evaluation of traditional family education.
In addition, Ms. Lau Pui-Kuen, Research Fellow at the Tin Ka Ping Centre for Filial Piety Culture Studies, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, presented on “Filial Piety, Education, and the Era of Empathy”, followed by an activity report video by Mr. Du Wenjian, Principal of Yokohama Chinese School.
Subsequently, Mr. Son Yun, Director of the Korean Confucian Cultural Education Center, lectured on “Filial Piety, History, and Economy”; Mr. Katsuyuki Imoto, Specially Appointed Professor at Japan University of Economics, spoke on “Filial Piety, Religion, and Faith”; and Mr. Wong Yuk-Lam, President of the Malaysia Filial Piety Culture Foundation, shared his organization’s activities.
The morning session concluded successfully with a commemorative group photo and a closing declaration.
Following the opening remarks by the host, various cultural performances—including dance, vocal music, and yangqin (Chinese dulcimer) performances—were presented, expressing the spirit of filial piety through art.
Subsequently, the Filial Piety Essay Contest awards ceremony and the appointment ceremony for Filial Piety Ambassadors were held. Through the reading of award-winning essays and video presentations, the audience witnessed the emotional growth and transformation brought about by practicing filial piety.
In addition, the Four-Generation Family Award and the Special Filial Piety Practice Award were presented, highlighting once again the enduring importance of family bonds across generations.
At the closing of the event, all participants renewed their commitment to “inheriting filial piety culture and realizing a harmonious, compassionate society,” bringing the conference to a successful conclusion.
The Foundation will continue to actively promote the global dissemination of filial piety culture and expand the circle of empathy and understanding across the world.
